Sermon for SpiritCare October 17:

Psalm 27:14 KJV says:

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

I would like to talk about Faith.

The psalmist's instructions in this verse are "Wait on the Lord" and "Be of good courage." The Hebrew word here for "courage" means "be strong." Do not faint. Do not be dismayed. Have hope and trust in the Lord. The Lord shall strengthen "thine heart," enabling you to do what needs to be done. You should have faith to follow these instructions.

King David also says in part of Psalm 27:6 "I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord." David's lesson that we should fix deeply in our mind is that in times of danger and difficulty, instead of being downtrodden, instead of sinking down in despair, instead of giving up all effort, we should lean upon our faith, trust in the Lord, and sing praises.

Psalm 25:3 Berean Study Bible says: "Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced."

This verse warns us not to be "faithless without cause." And the verse again reminds us to "wait for You" -- the Lord.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV is similar to the Psalms quoted above but emphasizes the benefits of having faith:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

It may be hard to walk in the physical world, but you can use faith to run in your spiritual Walk with Christ. I pray that these verses remind you of the gift of faith and its power.
