"Survival Packs" for the homeless

We have been distributing what we call "survival packs" to homeless folks we see on the street if the city does not object.  Typical contents for the pack are:

• a Mylar emergency shelter blanket

• box of chicken salad with crackers

• cookies

• soap

• lotion

• razor

• deodorant

• tooth brush and case

• tooth paste

• tissues

• ear cleaners

• antibacterial moist wipes

This list was provided by another organization

Supplies Homeless Could Use:

• 1. coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves

  2. shoes, socks

  3. underwear -- new only

  4. lightly used long sleeve shirts, pants, jeans for women and men

  5. blankets

  6. toothpaste, toothbrush, sanitizing hand lotion or wipes

  7. soap, shampoo (including travel size)

  8. toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues

  9. rice, pasta, pasta sauce

  10. canned ravioli and other dinners, Spam, tuna, corned beef, chili

  11. canned vegetables, fruits, soups

  12. cereals, Pop-Tarts, oatmeal

  13. pastries: Danishes, doughnuts, rolls, bread, cake, etc

  14. water, sodas, juice, instant coffee, creamer, sugar

  15. chips, snacks, cookies

  16. plastic bags, containers
